A big year for AFL

AFLPNG release 2010 Calendar

AFLPNG has released it 2010 Bemobile Game Development Calendar and what a big year it will be for the code in the country with already the publication of its first fortnightly AFLPNG Nius.
 

The highlights of the calendar include the AFLPNG Mosquitoes squad touring Cairns tour in March plus the new youth ambassador commencing his role, the U16 Queensland State championships in Brisbane and AFLPNG Coca Cola U16 Binatangs tour, AFL Queensland U14 championships in Sunshine Coast and Coca Cola U14 Binatangs tour in June, the U16 national championships in Australia, West Sydney and the Pacific U18 touring squads in July, the national Under 16s Oceania Cup and juniors Bemobile schools side, commencement of AFL academy PNG and PNG scholarship system nationally, Gold Coast All Stars PNG Tour and the Coca Cola National Championships and Talent Camp in December. 

Also on the local front Bank of South Pacific AFLPNG Super Series Game, one will start at the end of this month plus the AFLPNG Bemobile development programs commencing nationwide in February.

In June the Bemobile regional championships will be held in the Highlands (Mt Hagen), Southern (Port Moresby), Islands (Kimbe) and Northern (Lae).

And in September the junior national championships will be held for the U13, U15, U17 and U15 Girls in the four regions plus the senior national championships will also be held on that same month from the 16th to the 19th.

Also AFLPNG has appointed three new board members and they are Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of PNG Dr Kenneth Sumbuk, Treasury Advisor with the PNG Department of Treasury Bede Moore and Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary Giossi Labi.

They join the current board members Scott Reid (Minter Ellison Lawyers), Garry Bruest (South Pacific Post), Mel Togolo (Nautilus Minerals) and Jason Mcllvena (Kwila Insurance) and non voting member Andrew Cadzow (AFL Asia Pacific).

Meanwhile, the four team BSP Super Series 2 will kick off next Saturday at the University of PNG AFL Oval.

There will be three weeks of footy with the finals scheduled for February 20.
It is anticipated to be a fiery competition with spots up for grabs for the Cairns and Oceania Cup team.
